It's a boy for Ashlee Simpson

American singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a son, according to People magazine.

The 24-year-old first-time mum welcomed a healthy baby boy yesterday with husband, Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, 29.

"Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes," a spokesperson for the new parents told People.

Bronx Mowgli Wentz weighed 7lbs 11oz and measured just over 20 inches long, the US magazine revealed.

The couple announced the pregnancy in May this year, before tying the knot in a small family wedding.

Recently commenting on his daughter's pregnancy, dad Joe Simpson said: "The day she found out she was pregnant, she became a woman. It's a transformation you never expect as a parent - you pray for it, but never expect it. She's ready for this baby!"
